Street food in most Asian cities, can make our taste buds tingle. Our only thought veers towards the hygiene, cooking oil and the quality of the ingredients used. Mumbai doesn’t lag far behind and we have specialized food unique to Mumbai, like the Vada Pav or the simple Sandwich, available at every corner, and time of day or night.
Generally Mumbai Sandwich is made using boiled potatoes and green capsicum, with raw, finely cut tomatoes and cucumber to add to the taste. Butter and chatni (another concoction specific to the local cuisine) is lavishly spread on the underside of the bread. a sprinkle of chaat masala, a type of spice which brings out the taste, is also added.
Featured here is the version made by Socialoffline, which has eight outlets within Mumbai. It was a franchise started by Riyaaz Amlani, back in 2014, which has now turned into a cult. The popular coffee shop Mocha was also started by him. Social is for the younger crowd and offers working space with a setting where they can work and order a drink or listen to music, all at the same time. The food menu is updated regularly based on the location and preferred taste of the city or area that the outlet is located in. Connect with Socialoffline for more details.
